Kathmandu: Acting President of Nepali Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has announced that the party will engage in the upcoming elections if the government establishes a suitable environment for their conduct. Speaking at a memorial meeting in Surkhet, commemorating the 13th day since the passing of Govinda Bahadur Malla, former president of the party’s Surkhet district, Khadka emphasized the party’s readiness to participate as soon as conditions are met.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Khadka criticized the government for failing to undertake necessary measures to facilitate elections. He urged the authorities to demonstrate sincerity by addressing key issues such as recovering weapons looted during the Gen-Z demonstration, bolstering the morale of police and security forces, engaging all political parties in the electoral process, and assuring citizens of their safety.
Khadka further accused the government of neglecting the responsibility of creating an election-friendly environment, instead opting for biased attacks on party leaders, thereby creating confusion and uncertainty. He mentioned that the ongoing central executive committee meeting of the Nepali Congress would decide on future steps concerning the elections, the party’s convention, and the prevailing conditions.
