NC General Secretary Thapa Demands Dismissal of Minister for Involvement in Bribe Scandal

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has demanded the dismissal of Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Raj Kumar Gupta over his alleged involvement in a bribery scandal.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Thapa made this demand during a program organized by the NC’s Department of Intellectual and Professionals focused on disaster management. Thapa emphasized that Prime Minister should take immediate action by sacking Minister Gupta following the alleged involvement in a bribery case and the subsequent leakage of an audio tape related to the incident.

Thapa further stressed the necessity of initiating a probe to hold accountable all individuals involved in the wrongdoing. He also highlighted the need for judicial restructuring, suggesting that amendments to the constitution should be considered to address these issues.

Moreover, Thapa criticized the current disciplinary actions within the Nepali Congress, comparing them to a historical episode known as Kot Parva, which he believes could potentially weaken the party. He also pointed out the increasing challenges in disaster management, attributing them to the inadequate use of public spaces by all three layers of government.
