Lalitpur: General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa, has asserted that the Nepali Congress (NC) is not only a political party but also a vital and responsible national power. Speaking at a programme organized by the Lalitpur District Party Office, Thapa emphasized that with national power comes national responsibility, and expressed concerns over the country’s compromises due to weaknesses within this national force.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Thapa stated that the NC’s pursuit of power is not merely for electoral success but is essential for providing an effective outlet for the country’s issues. He emphasized the need for courage and support within the party to achieve this goal. Thapa highlighted the party’s historical role in lifting the country out of violence and noted that the NC has always aimed to be inclusive, even in challenging times.
Thapa further argued that the Nepali Congress is responsible for ensuring good governance and spearheading development activities. He underscored that the time has come for the party to address and correct its past weaknesses in these areas.
Additionally, NC Lalitpur President Jitendra Kumar Shrestha shared his optimism regarding the party’s future electoral performance, citing the 56 percent victory rate in recent local-level elections as evidence of the party’s strength. He expressed confidence in securing additional victories in forthcoming elections.
The programme also saw the participation of several local leaders and individuals, including Nirmal Tandukar, Chairperson of Lalitpur metropolitan city-1, Ganesh KC, Chairperson of ward 13, and individuals such as Sushil Sapkota and Jitendra Gajurel, who joined the NC at the event.
