Baglung: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has reflected on the significant role played by the late Govinda Kandel in Nepali politics. Kandel, remembered for his contributions, was a respected figure in the political landscape of Nepal.
According to National News Agency Nepal, President Deuba shared his thoughts during a condolence gathering organized by the Nepali Congress on the 13th day following the passing of NC leader Govinda Prasad Sharma Kandel, who was a resident of Bihun in the Baglung district. Deuba highlighted Kandel’s adherence to BP’s ideology, emphasizing his honesty and commitment to democratic principles.
President Deuba noted that although Kandel served as a lawmaker, he was never driven by a desire for power. Instead, he consistently advocated for the rights of the people. Deuba praised Kandel’s unparalleled contribution to the nation and its politics, urging NC cadres to uphold the values he championed.
In reflecting on Kandel’s demise, Deuba expressed that it represents a significant loss to both the party and national politics. Kandel’s political journey included his election to the House of Representatives from constituency no 1 of Baglung district in the 2048 general election. Born in Kathekhola rural municipality-6 of Baglung on Poush 10 in 1995 BS, Kandel’s legacy continues to inspire.
