Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has addressed claims made by various media outlets suggesting that Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has been pressuring her to remove Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal from his position.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a press statement issued by Adarsha Kumar Shrestha, the Chief Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, emphasized that the appointment and removal of members of the Council of Ministers are decisions exclusively within the Prime Minister’s jurisdiction, free from external pressure or influence.
The statement highlighted that the current government was established based on the mandate of the Gen Z Movement. It acknowledged that Home Minister Aryal took office during an unusual political climate and has been working to ensure a conducive environment for the upcoming election scheduled for March 5, 2026. His efforts to maintain peace, order, and boost the morale of security agencies were also noted.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has urged the public to refrain from spreading or believing such rumors and propaganda.
