Over 2,000 Taxpayers Suspended for Failing to Submit VAT Details in Chitwan

Chitwan: As many as 2,373 value-added tax (VAT) payers registered at the Internal Revenue Office in Bharatpur have been suspended. The Internal Revenue Department has taken this action against taxpayers who have not submitted their VAT statements for the past six months.

According to National News Agency Nepal, information officer Bimal Paudel stated that 2,400 VAT payers registered at the office had not submitted their details. Following a notice issued on April 24, only 27 VAT payers complied by submitting their details. Consequently, the operations of those who failed to comply have been halted, and consumers have been advised against engaging in business transactions with them.

Suspended taxpayers are required to submit all outstanding tax details to resume their business operations. The district hosts more than 72,000 taxpayers, including over 10,000 VAT payers. The Inland Revenue Department has also published a list of 95,349 taxpayers across the country who have failed to submit their VAT details within the deadline and have subsequently been suspended.
