Biratnagar: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has expressed confidence that the obstruction in the House of Representatives will be resolved soon. Speaking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport, Minister Gurung, who also serves as the government spokesperson, assured that the Civil Service Act and the Education Act will be issued during the current session of Parliament.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Gurung argued against demands for the resignation of the departmental minister over an employee’s mistake. He commented that the opposition parties are obstructing the parliament as a form of retribution. This statement referred to the ongoing stalling of the House of Representatives’ regular business by opposition parties, who are demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak due to a visit visa scam.
The visit visa scandal involves the defrauding of Nepali citizens at Tribhuvan International Airport by immigration staff, as they were going abroad on visit visas. Minister Gurung stated it would be inappropriate to comment on the investigation by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). He noted that it is natural for the commission to investigate those who abuse their authority.
