Parliamentary Party Leader and Government Remain Distinct, Asserts CM Lama


Kathmandu: Parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress Bagmati Province and Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama has stated that he will not resign from his position as Chief Minister despite having lost the majority in the parliamentary party. Speaking to the media, CM Lama emphasized that the roles of the government and the parliamentary party are distinct.



According to National News Agency Nepal, CM Lama clarified that he would not step down from the government as he retains the backing of coalition parties. He referenced the Constitution, explaining that it is not mandatory for the parliamentary party leader to be the Chief Minister if the government maintains a majority.



In a related development, Krishna Tamang, Secretary at the Parliamentary Party, reported that 21 provincial assembly members filed a non-trust motion against CM Lama with the parliamentary party on July 25.
