Pokhara Metropolitan City Distributes Maize Seeds to Over 500 Farmers

Pokhara: The Pokhara Metropolitan City has taken a significant step to encourage maize farming by distributing six tonnes of maize seeds to farmers as part of a grant initiative.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the distribution was carried out by the Agriculture Development Section of the metropolitan city, led by Manahar Kadariya. The initiative aims to boost maize farming by providing seeds at a 50 percent grant, thereby reducing the financial burden on farmers. The city had invited farmers to apply for the grant through a public notice, resulting in over 500 farmers receiving the seeds.

Maize farming covers approximately 6,000 hectares of land within the metropolitan area, making it a crucial agricultural activity for local farmers. The distribution of seeds is expected to enhance agricultural productivity and support the livelihoods of the farming community in Pokhara.
