Power Supply Disruption Affects ICU and CCU Wards at Narayani Hospital

Birgunj: Power supply was interrupted in the ICU and CCU wards of Narayani Hospital for two hours and 30 minutes. The power failure occurred from 10:30 pm on Friday to 1:00 am on Saturday, reportedly due to negligence on the part of the hospital administration and management.

According to National News Agency Nepal, 17 patients were receiving treatment in the ICU and CCU at the time. Doctors and nursing staff managed to maintain patient care by using their mobile phone lights for illumination, ensuring the safety of all patients.

The District Administration Office (DAO) has taken the incident seriously, especially given the sensitive nature of the wards affected. They have called for an internal investigation to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the power outage. Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal and Parsa Police Chief Gautam Mishra conducted a joint meeting on Saturday with key hospital personnel, including the Chair of the Narayani Hospital Development Committee, the Acting Medical Sup
erintendent, and other relevant staff, emphasizing the importance of addressing the issue.

Dhiraj Kumar Gupta, Chair of the Narayani Hospital Development Committee, pledged to prevent any recurrence of such incidents. Meanwhile, Chitraranjan Sah, the acting medical superintendent, attributed the outage to poor electrical wiring in the ICU and CCU rooms.
