Prachanda Criticizes Slow Implementation of Constitution Amid Economic Concerns

Kathmandu: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that the political leadership has been unsuccessful in implementing the fundamental rights assured by the constitution. Despite this shortcoming, he acknowledged the significant progress the country has made since the establishment of the republic.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Prachanda expressed these views at the ‘Rising Nepal Summit,’ an event organized to commemorate the 10th anniversary of www.nepalkhabar.com. During his address, he emphasized the need for a constitutional amendment, highlighting the pressing issue of youth migration for overseas employment, even as economic indicators show some positive trends. He also raised concerns about Nepal’s current food import situation, which contrasts with the country’s past as a food exporter.

The former Prime Minister pointed out that maintaining good governance remains a significant challenge for the nation. He linked the spread of critical narratives to the pervasive issue of corruption. Prachanda added that while his party is not opposed to the private sector, relying solely on liberalism would not ensure justice for the citizens.

Moreover, Nepali Congress leader Dr. Minendra Rijal contributed to the discourse by noting the considerable improvements in human development indexes since the 1990s. He urged all political forces to thoroughly examine the root causes of public dissatisfaction.
