Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has called on all political entities to focus on nation-building by embracing the mandate given by the citizens. He highlighted the necessity for leadership characterized by fresh thinking, style, plans, dedication, energy, conduct, and integrity to meet this mandate.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during a program marking the 31st Kathmandu Metropolis Day, President Paudel emphasized the responsibility to hand over a prosperous nation to future generations by addressing current needs. He asserted that politics should be viewed as the noblest means of social service, an expectation of the Nepali people, especially reflected in the recent youth movement.
President Paudel stated that seeking the people’s mandate is the ultimate democratic method to solve national issues, urging all to ensure the success of the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5. He stressed the elections as a response to the youth’s aspirations for change and a step towards building a prosperous Nepal with social justice and good governance.
The President commended Kathmandu Metropolitan City for its achievements in economic, social, and physical development, and urban management. He lauded the youth leadership and energetic representatives for their role in delivering citizen-friendly services, leveraging information and communication technology, and maintaining accountability and transparency.
President Paudel highlighted the city’s successes in urban management, conservation of natural and cultural heritage, and integrated urban development. He urged continued support and cooperation from federal and provincial governments for the effective implementation of Kathmandu’s policies, programs, and plans, expressing confidence in the city’s future effectiveness in meeting residents’ needs.
The event was attended by Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, and National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal. President Paudel honored individuals for outstanding contributions in various fields, while the Vice President recognized local representatives for their exemplary performances.
