Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki and former President Ram Baran Yadav met at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to discuss the upcoming elections and the current political climate.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the meeting focused on preparations for the elections and ensuring a conducive political environment. During the discussions, Prime Minister Karki emphasized her commitment to transferring power to a democratically elected government while maintaining good governance, in accordance with the aspirations of the Gen-Z protest movement.
Former President Yadav voiced his support for holding elections, asserting that it is the optimal path toward strengthening the country’s democratic system. He praised the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Karki’s leadership in preparing for the elections and engaging in dialogues with various stakeholders.
Yadav remarked, “Political parties should go for election. Election is the best way to take the country in democratic system. The discussion held with all bodies concerned regarding election preparation has created positive environment. The government should also talk with civil society and the civil society should encourage the political parties to go for election.”
He also reflected on the successful elections during the tenure of the then Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi-led government in 2070 BS, discussing the security and geopolitical challenges faced at the time. Yadav expressed confidence in the participation of political parties in the upcoming elections scheduled for March 5, acknowledging their understanding of the election’s significance.
