Republic Day Main Celebration Committee Formed with PM KP Sharma Oli as Chairperson


Kathmandu: The Republic Day Main Celebration Committee-2082 BS has been established with the leadership of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The formation of this committee was finalized during a meeting at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, where a proposal from the Home Ministry regarding the committee and its proposed programs for Republic Day celebrations was endorsed.



According to National News Agency RSS, the committee is composed of high-ranking officials including Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, Ministers of State, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis, the Chief Secretary, the Army Chief, the Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolis, senior government officers, the Inspector General of Nepal Police, the Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, the Chief Investigation Director of the National Investigation Department, and Mayors of municipalities within the Kathmandu Valley. The Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs is also part of the committee.



The meeting’s decisions outline that public entities nationwide will partake in a lamp lighting and illumination ceremony over three evenings commencing on May 28 (Jeth 14), in honor of the Day. Additionally, Nepali Embassies abroad, alongside diplomatic missions and consulates, will celebrate the occasion by organizing a series of programs.



The central festivities are scheduled to occur at the Nepal Army Pavilion at Tundikhel on May 29, 2025. Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of collective efforts to ensure that the celebrations are grand and successful, reaching citizens at all levels of society.
