Kathmandu: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairperson Rajendra Lingden has declared that his party will actively oppose corruption and mismanagement both within the parliament and through public protests.
According to National News Agency Nepal, at the start of the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, Lingden raised concerns about the effectiveness of the Good Governance Commission led by the Prime Minister amidst rising corruption and mismanagement issues in the country. He questioned the ethical stance of ministers embroiled in various scandals and suggested that they should resign to uphold good governance. Lingden emphasized that the RPP will vocally protest these issues both in the legislative assembly and on the streets.
Lingden, who serves as the leader of the RPP parliamentary party in the HoR, criticized the forceful conduct of meetings despite ongoing protests by opposition parties. These parties are demanding the establishment of a high-level committee to impartially investigate the ‘Visit Visa’ case. He urged the Speaker to recognize the people’s concerns and to address the opposition’s demands.
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ashok Kumar Chaudhary echoed similar sentiments, calling for a fair investigation into allegations against the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, and the Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration. He insisted that these ministers should provide answers regarding the accusations.
In a show of dissent, members of both the RSP and RPP walked out of the meeting, expressing their parties’ views on the matters at hand.
