Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) parliamentarians have once again boycotted the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, raising issues of mismanagement and visa scam concerns. During the Emergency Hour of the HoR meeting, RSP parliamentarian Manish Jha highlighted a case of alleged negligence in the constitutional appointment of Krishna Prasad Neupane in the Language Commission. He argued that this appointment reflected broader administrative mismanagement in the country.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Jha cited the mention of “Human Trafficking” on page 46 of a report concerning a visit visa scam, demanding accountability for those involved. He also called for the resignation of the President of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, citing ethical issues related to the ‘cooling-off period.’
Similarly, RPP parliamentarian Roshan Karki expressed her party’s long-standing opposition to the misuse of visit visas. She insisted that even individual parliamentarian concerns should be addressed by the parliament. Karki criticized the parliament’s inaction, suggesting it appeared accountable only to the government, and called for immediate measures to prevent the trafficking of Nepalis under the guise of visit visas.
The protest continued with RSP and RPP parliamentarians boycotting the meeting. As Speaker Devraj Ghimire began the session, lawmakers from both parties stood in protest, leading to an allocation of time for Jha and Karki to air their grievances during the Emergency Hour. Following their statements, the protesting parliamentarians exited the meeting hall.
