RSP and RPP Persist in Boycott of House of Representatives Session Over Visa Scam

Kathmandu: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have sustained their boycott of the House of Representatives (HoR) sessions in protest against what they allege to be an inadequate response from the government regarding a recent visit visa scam.

According to National News Agency Nepal, both parties have voiced their dissatisfaction with the government’s decision to establish only a general administrative committee to investigate the issue. They argue that a more robust parliamentary committee or a high-level commission is necessary to address the matter thoroughly.

During the session, RSP lawmaker Sobhita Gautam announced that their protest would persist until their demands were met. She expressed skepticism about the government’s intentions in forming the administrative committee, asserting that the issue pertained to human trafficking and had the potential to damage the nation’s reputation. “We continue to boycott the House as the government has turned indifferent to our demand,” she stated.

RPP’s Anisha Nepali echoed these sentiments, warning that the RPP would maintain its boycott until a high-level commission was established to probe the visa scam. Additionally, she highlighted the need for the government to promptly provide compensation to citizens affected by recent natural disasters, noting the substantial loss of lives and property.

Following these statements, members from both parties exited the meeting hall, continuing their protest against the government’s handling of the situation.
