Kathmandu: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have continued their boycott of the House of Representatives (HoR) session today, maintaining their protest against the alleged visit visa scam.
According to National News Agency Nepal, lawmakers from both parties stood from their respective seats in a demonstration of objection once the session commenced. RSP’s Shobita Gautam criticized the government for not heeding their repeated calls to establish a high-level parliamentary committee or investigation commission to address the issue.
Gautam emphasized the RSP’s longstanding demand for a dedicated body to investigate the alleged human trafficking under the guise of visit visas. She expressed concerns over the formation of a general administrative committee led by what she described as an ‘unsuitable’ figure to handle a matter impacting Nepal’s international reputation.
Meanwhile, RPP lawmaker Gyan Bahadur Shahi highlighted the government’s persistent disregard for the party’s concerns regarding the visit visa issue. Shahi stated that while their protest is directed at the government, it primarily targets the broader issue of human trafficking. He reiterated the party’s demand for a parliamentary committee to uncover the facts related to the alleged scam.
