Sanskrit Language Is World’s Treasure: President Paudel

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has declared that the Sanskrit language is a global treasure, emphasizing that its significance extends beyond Nepal and India. Addressing the World Sanskrit Conference in Kathmandu, President Paudel highlighted the profound influence of Sanskrit language, literature, and culture in South Asia and its growing global impact.

According to National News Agency Nepal, President Paudel expressed optimism about the future of Sanskrit, citing advancements in computer technology and artificial intelligence as key factors. He noted that the current global society, characterized by restlessness, finds hope and trust in Sanskrit literature. He further urged the Sanskrit conference to promote the message that the protection and development of the earth, humanity, and civilization, along with happiness and satisfaction, are achievable through peace, compassion, and friendship.

President Paudel acknowledged Nepal’s efforts in the preservation and development of Sanskrit, while also recognizing that much work remains to be done. He called for collaboration to further these efforts. Highlighting Nepal’s historical significance, he mentioned that the nation has been a birthplace and meditation site for saints since ancient times, and is also where Ved Vyas was born. Furthermore, he acknowledged Rajashri Janak, Buddha, Panini, and Baba Gorakshyanath as treasures of Nepal.

The President noted that the creation of numerous texts in the Sanskrit language during the Malla and Shah dynasties, as well as in contemporary times, demonstrates Nepal’s fertile ground for Sanskrit development, beyond merely being its origin.
