Success of Province Is Success of Federal Democratic Republic: President

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized the critical role that provinces play in the success of the federal democratic republic system, highlighting their importance in institutionalizing the achievements of recent movements.

According to National News Agency Nepal, during a meeting with the Chiefs of Provinces at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas, President Paudel stressed that the effective functioning of provinces is essential for strengthening the system. He stated, “I believe that the justification and relevance of the constitution will be proved through the formulation of necessary federal, provincial, and local laws and their sincere implementation.”

President Paudel emphasized the role of Province Chiefs as representatives of the center, urging them to act as coordinators between the federal and provincial centers. He highlighted the importance of regular communication and mutual coordination between the President and Province Chiefs to ensure a cohesive and effective governance structure.

He also underscored the urgency of enacting and implementing provincial laws, suggesting that timely legislation would lead to tangible benefits in people’s daily lives and increased trust in the system. He encouraged relevant authorities to accelerate progress in this area, noting that the mere establishment of provincial structures is insufficient without civic-friendly, inclusive, and well-governed practices.

President Paudel called for a focus on good governance, effective service delivery, and the strengthening of democracy. He urged the intellectual community and civil society leaders to engage in dialogue to explore ways of fortifying democracy through collaborative efforts.

Furthermore, President Paudel advised the Province Chiefs to contribute to good governance and development in various sectors, including agriculture, tourism, education, health, literature, art, and culture. He called for collective efforts to further strengthen the federal democratic republic.

During the meeting, the chiefs of all seven provinces informed the President about the challenges, legal confusions, and other inconveniences they face, requesting his intervention to address these issues with the respective bodies.
