Chimkhola: Test production of a 220-KV Chimkhola-Rahughat transmission line, constructed to connect power produced from hydropower projects at the Rahughat basin of Myagdi district to the central system, is being conducted.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a 13-kilometer long transmission line was constructed from Chimkhola to the switchyard of the Galeshwor-based Ragughat hydropower project. This line is intended to connect power produced from the 35-MW Chimkhola-Mangale Rahughat, 48.5-MW Upper Rahughat, 21.3-MW Thulokhola, and 23.5-MW Upper Thulokhola hydropower projects to the central system.
Upendra Gautam, a representative of Tundi Power, the promoter of the Chimkhola-Mangale Rahughat and Upper Rahughat hydropower projects, stated that they are planning to supply power to the central system through the 220-KV Dana-Khurkot transmission line from the switchyard of Rahughat temporarily. This temporary measure will remain in place until the completion of a substation currently under construction at Raghuganga-3.
The physical infrastructures of the Chimkhola-Mangale Rahughat and Thulokhola hydropower projects, including the dam, penstock pipe, and various parts of the powerhouse equipment, have already been examined. The construction of the Upper Rahughat and Upper Thulokhola hydropower projects is in its final phase. The electricity is expected to be connected to the central line soon after the test. There are 39 towers from Chimkhola to Rahughat, and the four hydropower projects have coordinated efforts to construct structures that enable power supply through a single transmission line.
