According to National News Agency Nepal, on Wednesday morning, Rambabu Mukhiya, 40, son of Tulsi Mukhiya and a resident of Madhav Narayan-4, Bishanpurwa, died from electrocution while using an electric motor for irrigation. He passed away during treatment at the Provincial Hospital, Gaur.
In a similar incident, Moktar Dewan, 52, son of Lal Mohammad Dewan from Jamuniya Tol, Kataharia-2, succumbed to injuries from an electric shock while irrigating his field. Dewan was being treated at Grande Hospital in Garuda when he died.
Earlier, on June 27, a 14-year-old named Narendra Patel alias Golu, son of Sudhan Raut from Sonarnia, Maulapur-8, also died from an electric shock while watering his fields.
This year, insufficient rainfall and ensuing drought in the Tarai have compelled farmers to use electric motors to pump groundwater for paddy transplantation and field irrigation.
