Vice President Yadav Advocates Modernization of Paddy Cultivation on National Paddy Day

Kathmandu: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has emphasized the urgent need to increase investment in irrigation, seeds, fertilizer, and mechanization to transition paddy cultivation from traditional methods to modern technology. In his message on the occasion of the 22nd National Paddy Day, Vice President Yadav highlighted the importance of strengthening the backbone of food security by advancing towards the establishment of a sustainable agro system.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Vice President Yadav stressed the necessity of promoting climate-friendly agricultural practices. He recommended prioritizing the use of climate adaptation seeds, improving irrigation facilities, and employing organic fertilizers to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Vice President Yadav also called for a strategic approach to reduce the import of paddy, which could help stop the import of rice worth billions of rupees annually. His message underlined the significance of National Paddy Day as a symbol of commitment to developing and modernizing an advanced agro system aimed at building a self-reliant and prosperous Nepal.

The day encourages all Nepalis to work towards a prosperous, production-oriented, and climate-adaptive agricultural sector that respects the skills, hard work, and perseverance of farmers. Vice President Yadav argued that adopting a climate-change-resilient, production-oriented, and inclusive agro system is essential, utilizing indigenous paddy varieties and improved technology.
