Law Minister Assures of No Bill Capable of Affecting Society Adversely


Kathmandu: Minister for Law, Justice and Federal Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, has stated that no bills which could negatively affect society will be introduced to the House. During a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, the Law Minister addressed concerns from lawmakers, assuring them that no laws capable of jeopardizing the country’s social fabric would be enacted.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the Law Minister emphasized that proposed amendments concerning the legal age of marriage, polygamy, advanced bail, and presidential pardons will be finalized based on recommendations and submissions from relevant bodies. These amendments are under careful consideration to ensure they align with societal norms and legal standards.



A Bill Committee of the Council of Ministers convened on Tuesday to discuss the proposed draft concerning amendments to the Criminal Code- 2074 BS (2017) and other laws. The committee resolved to establish a subcommittee to further examine the proposed provisions for amendments. The necessity for further discussions and revisions to the proposed draft was acknowledged, highlighting the government’s commitment to a thorough legislative process.
