Thimpu: The Nepali football team emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Saudi Arabia in the second match of Group ‘A’ at the AFC Women’s U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers held in Thimpu, Bhutan. This victory has propelled Nepal to gather a total of four points from the two matches played so far in the tournament. In their opening match, Nepal had secured a 1-1 draw against Bhutan.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the decisive goal for Nepal came from Sukriya Miya, who scored in the first minute of additional time during the second half. This crucial goal not only secured the win for Nepal but also kept their hopes alive for qualification into the AFC Asian Cup scheduled to be held in Thailand next year.
Despite the defeat, Saudi Arabia’s journey in the qualifiers has come to an end, as they will not be advancing to the next phase. Meanwhile, Nepal is set to face North Korea in their next match on Sunday, which will be a critical game for their qualification prospects.
