Chief Minister Baniya Takes Oath of Office in Bagmati Province


Hetauda: Newly appointed Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Indra Bahadur Baniya, has taken the oath of office and secrecy. Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota administered the oath during a ceremony held at his office on Tuesday afternoon. The oath was conducted in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the constitution.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Baniya had claimed the position of Chief Minister on Monday, presenting signatures from 64 Province Assembly Members from the Nepali Congress and the CPN UML in his support. This move solidified his position as the new Chief Minister.



It is reported that Chief Minister Baniya plans to form an eight-member Cabinet comprising six province members from the CPN UML and two from the Nepali Congress on the same day as his oath-taking.
