Kathmandu: Dang, Bardiya, and Banke have received extremely heavy rainfall since last night. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Jalakundi measuring center in Dang recorded 227 millimeters of rainfall in the past 11 hours.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Sikta in Banke has also received 200 millimeters of rainfall, while Manpur in Bardiya recorded 167 millimeters. Additionally, Dang has experienced more than 25 millimeters of rainfall in the past hour.
Meteorologist at the Weather Forecasting Division, Hari Prasad Dahal, indicated that more rainfall is expected in western Nepal this afternoon and tonight. In the last six hours, heavy rain has been reported in Tulsipur, Ambapur, and Jalakundi in Dang, as well as West Rapti in Banke, Sikta, and Manpur Rainfall Center in Bardiya and surrounding areas.
The Flood Forecasting Division has urged residents to exercise high alert due to the risk of flash floods and inundation in low-lying areas along Babai, West Rapti River, Duduwa River, and other small rivers in the region. The current weather patterns are attributed to the active monsoon winds affecting the country, which are expected to remain active for a few more days.
Most of the country is experiencing cloudy weather today, with light to moderate rain occurring in most parts of Lumbini, Madhes, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as in some areas in Koshi and Bagmati Provinces.
