Eight Major Highways Blocked Due to Incessant Rainfall


Kathmandu: Eight major highways across the country have been completely blocked due to incessant rainfall taking place since Saturday night. The impacted highways have brought transportation to a standstill, causing significant inconvenience for travelers and disrupting the flow of goods and services.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the Koshi highway has been blocked in Sankhuwasabha, while the Pasang Lhamu highway in Rasuwa and the Araniko highway in Sindhupalchowk have also been affected. Additionally, the Mid-hill highway in Nuwakot, the Jajarkot-Dolpa-Bheri corridor in Rukum West, the Mid-hill highway in Jajarkot, and the Karnali corridor in Humla are among those impacted. A makeshift bridge connecting the Nepal-China border in Rasuwa has also been blocked, further complicating travel and transport in the region.



The Nepal Police Headquarters has reported that efforts are underway to clear the blocked roads. However, they have managed to open previously obstructed road sections for one-way traffic, allowing some movement through the affected areas. The situation remains dynamic as authorities work to address the disruptions caused by the relentless rainfall.
