Kathmandu: The Karmayogi Badribikram Thapa Memorial Service Trust has conferred the ‘Badribikram Rastra Gaurav Award’ on culture expert and litterateur Tejeshwor Babu Gwanga. The award was presented during a program organized to mark the 103rd birth anniversary of Thapa and the 28th establishment day of the Trust in the federal capital. Gwanga received the award for his contributions to literature and culture, along with a cash prize of Rs 2,22,222 and a letter of appreciation.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the ceremony also honored social worker and painter Mrs. Urmila Garg with the ‘Sewa Award Nepal,’ which includes a cash prize of Rs 222,222. Additionally, Sanu Kanchhi Tamang, who runs a tea shop at Pulchowk, Lalitpur, and Minu Malakar, who operates a flower shop at Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu, were each awarded the Labour Award with a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
The Trust also released two books, ‘Sewa Nepal, 2082’ and ‘Versatile Personality Damannath Dhungana,’ during the event. In its commitment to education, the Trust provided educational materials to 100 students from Rhitambhara School in Khaniyakharka, Sindhuli district. Furthermore, a resting place at Banglamukhi in Lalitpur received monetary support of Rs 25,000.
Late Badribikram Thapa was recognized not only as an able administrator but also as a significant figure in the establishment of democracy and social service in Nepal.
