Journalism Should Show Path to Society with Positive and Analytical Awareness: PM Oli

Lalitpur: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the role of journalism in guiding society through positive and analytical consciousness. In his address at the 12th anniversary celebration of the online news portal ratopati.com, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the importance of analytical awareness in distinguishing between good and bad while urging the journalism sector to embrace truthfulness.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Oli remarked that impartiality is sufficient and that one should not be overly critical of falsehoods. He pointed out that mere critical awareness tends to see faults even in good actions and often criticizes one to make another appear better. Ratopati was praised for avoiding such undesired accusations. The Prime Minister stressed that truth must be written for its own sake, regardless of its popularity, and warned against manipulating the truth for personal benefit.

He commended Ratopati for maintaining strong connections amidst rapidly changing societal, global, and relational dynamics. Extending his best wishes to the online media for its resilience and achievements, PM Oli acknowledged its proactive role in the evolving digital landscape. He noted the necessity for the communication sector to provide recommendations across various sectors.

During the event, Prime Minister Oli honored Devi Khadka for her unwavering contribution to the Maoist people’s war, presenting her with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. He also released a book titled ‘Why and What about Constitution’s Amendment?’ expressing his hope that it will facilitate discussions and debates on constitutional amendments.

Former Deputy Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha also expressed optimism about the future strength and effectiveness of online media. Ratopati’s founder Om Sharma reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing national aspirations through media practice.
