Mandandeupur: Four industries operating within Mandandeupur municipality of Kavrepalanchowk have been shut down due to their failure to pay taxes.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the closures were initiated following repeated requests for tax payments that went unheeded. A team, led by Mayor Tok Bahadur Waiba and comprising local representatives, took action on Friday by padlocking the non-compliant crusher and brick industries. These industries had not been renewed or registered and were delinquent in their tax obligations.
The team specifically targeted three brick industries and one crusher industry. The Washing and Crushing Industry located in Mandandeupur-9 has an outstanding tax debt of Rs 4.58 million since fiscal year 2078/79 BS. Meanwhile, Kalidevi Bricks Industry in Mandandeupur-6 owes Rs 6.1 million.
Dakshinkali Bricks Industry also faces a tax debt of Rs 4.58 million. Additionally, the Chandeni-Nagarkot Bricks Industry was shut down due to long-term non-renewal.
Mayor Waiba explained that the closures were necessary after the industries ignored the local government’s repeated requests. However, he stated that the industries would be allowed to resume operations if they met the required criteria and paid the taxes as determined by the municipality.
