Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Center) Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that the MCC Nepal compact was passed with explanatory notes primarily due to his party’s emphasis. He emphasized this during the unveiling of the book ‘MCC in Nepal’, authored by Nirmal Lama Memorial Foundation Chair Leelamani Pokharel.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dahal remarked that the MCC Nepal compact favors Nepal because it was passed with explanatory notes, which allows for further discussion. He noted that without the Maoist party’s involvement, the compact might have been passed verbatim. Dahal expressed that the book released today serves as a valuable resource for both proponents and critics of the MCC compact.
Maoist Center leader and book author Pokharel mentioned that his party approved the MCC Nepal compact with explanatory notes under compelling circumstances. He highlighted that the book comprehensively addresses various aspects of the compact, including security challenges.
