Kathmandu: Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, has called for restraint in making comments about the government based on speculation and imagination. During a session of the House of Representatives, Minister Lekhak emphasized the importance of criticizing the government only when equipped with sufficient and in-depth information.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Lekhak clarified that the delegation accompanying the Head of the Government on foreign visits is approved by the Council of Ministers. He suggested that transparency would improve if the names of delegation members who do not return home were disclosed. He cited the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Spain as an instance where misinformation was circulated.
Minister Lekhak further argued that any concerns or queries raised within or outside of the parliament should be backed by detailed and verified information. He also questioned the circumstances regarding a former parliamentarian, Rabi Lamichhane, traveling to the USA on a visit visa, seeking verification of such claims.
Additionally, he addressed rumors concerning the misuse of security agencies, denying any truth to allegations that security protection was improperly extended to former parliamentarians and ministers.
