PM Oli Calls for Effective Publicity to Attract More Tourists to Nepal

Kathmandu: Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has urged effective publicity to attract more foreign tourists to Nepal. He emphasized the importance of organizations like the Nepal Tourism Board and the Department of Tourism aggressively promoting Nepal’s scenic tourist destinations using modern, digital methods.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Oli made these remarks during a national seminar on ‘Tourism in Nepal: Status, Challenges and Prospects’ organized by the party’s Central Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation. He highlighted the need to present Nepal as a unique destination where visitors can experience real happiness by engaging with the country’s natural beauty and wildlife, such as watching rhinos while riding an elephant.

He further stressed that the government has prioritized the development of tourism infrastructure and called on stakeholders to focus on creating a tourism-friendly environment. Prime Minister Oli encouraged the use of digital content to promote cultural and historical narratives, such as Nepal being the sacred birthplace of Lord Ram. He asserted that such topics should be promoted without reference to politics and mentioned the connections to scriptures, including the teachings of Vishwamitra and Valmiki in Chatara village.

Prime Minister Oli expressed his perplexity over why Nepal, with its rich knowledge, fertile land, learned ancestors, and hardworking people, has not achieved greater development. He urged the citizens of Nepal, recognized globally as a hardworking nation, to have confidence in their own abilities and work towards building the country independently, without relying on external aid.
