Kathmandu: The Election Code of Conduct 2082 has introduced a mandatory requirement for political parties and candidates to release their election manifestos before launching publicity campaigns for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) set for March 5. As outlined in Clause 37 of the Election Code of Conduct, the manifestos must be unveiled ahead of the campaign kick-off, which is slated for February 16.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Assistant Spokesperson of the Election Commission (EC), Kul Bahadur GC, stated that as of Thursday, no political party has submitted their election manifesto. The mandate requires political parties to submit their manifestos to the EC, while candidates must submit their manifestos to the relevant Election Office in their constituencies. Additionally, GC emphasized the necessity for political parties and elected candidates to release a progress report to the public annually, as detailed in their election manifestos.
