Pregnant Women in Tanahun Receive Cash Support for Nutrition to Lower Maternal Mortality Rate

Tanahun: The Vyas Municipality in Tanahun district provided cash support to 243 pregnant women in the last fiscal year for nutritious foods to promote good health and ensure the safety of both newborns and mothers.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief Administrative Officer of the Vyas Municipality, Kashiram Gaire, stated that a total of Rs 1.22 million was distributed among these women to reduce the maternal mortality rate (MMR). The initiative aimed to encourage pregnant women from economically disadvantaged households to avoid malnutrition and ensure a safe pregnancy through financial assistance.

Gaire further elaborated that each eligible pregnant woman received Rs 5,000 under the maternal nutrition programme. The cash was disbursed after eight months of pregnancy, contingent upon the submission of health checkup documents from at least three visits to public health care institutions in the municipality.
