Sudur Pashchim Province: Industry Minister Chaudhary Relieved

Kathmandu: Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has relieved Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Rameshwar Chaudhary from his post. Although the Chief Minister had directed Minister Chaudhary to resign from the post in the first week of this month, he did not resign. The Chief Minister has taken over the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the CM’s Political Advisor Dr. Jitu Upadhyay stated that the Chief Minister removed Rameshwar Chaudhary because he ignored the government’s request to maintain financial transparency and good governance. Chaudhary was appointed as a minister from the Nagarik Unmukti Party last month. His appointment followed the resignation of Lakshman Kishor Chaudhary, who stepped down after a controversial audio clip surfaced, as per the Chief Minister’s instructions.

The CPN (UML) and the Nagarik Unmukti Party are part of the ruling coalition in the province government formed under the leadership of Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader and Chief Minister Shah. There are seven members of the Unmukti party in the 53-member province assembly. The Nepali Congress has 18 members, the CPN (UML) 11, the opposition CPN (Maoist Centre) 11, CPN (Unified Socialist) four, along with one member of RPP and one independent member.
