Unity Among Communist Parties Essential, Says Chairperson Nepal

Kathmandu: Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal, has emphasized the necessity for unity among ideologically similar communist parties and groups. At an assembly held to announce the unification between the CPN (Unified Socialist) and the CPN National Unity Campaign, Nepal highlighted the importance of bringing together scattered communist forces to fortify the left and revolutionary movement, which he believes is vital for the nation’s development and the prosperity of its people.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chairperson Nepal stated that collaboration with parties sharing similar policies and goals is crucial for strengthening the party organization. He expressed confidence that the merger with the CPN National Unity Campaign would enhance the party’s robustness. However, he dismissed the possibility of unification with the CPN (UML), citing the ideological and principle deviations within the CPN (UML) as significant barriers.

Nepal, who is also a former Prime Minister, asserted that his party’s ideological position has been instrumental in shaping the national political landscape. Senior leader Jhalanath Khanal echoed this sentiment, stressing the need for unity among left parties that have historically opposed autocracy in the country. He also suggested that the potential for unity with CPN (UML) should remain open, especially if polarization occurs among all left forces in the nation.

Campaign Coordinator Bamdev Gautam announced his integration into the CPN (Unified Socialist) along with a 75-member central committee, expressing satisfaction with the merger. Gautam emphasized his commitment to building socialism in the country and expressed a life goal of witnessing and participating in socialist systems. He pledged to play a constructive role in making the party organization dynamic and effective.
