Citizens Should Be Sensitized Rather Than Controlled: NC General Secretary Thapa

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has emphasized the importance of raising awareness among citizens as opposed to exerting control over them to prevent the misuse of digital media. Thapa’s comments came at the conclusion of a training session on ‘Use and Impact of Digital Platforms’ organized by the party’s Information, Communication and Publicity Department at the party’s central office in Sanepa.

According to National News Agency Nepal, General Secretary Thapa stated that the Nepali Congress will prioritize educating the public to eliminate the detrimental political practice of misusing digital platforms. “We believe that citizens should be made aware rather than controlled. Today’s program has inspired all of us towards that end,” he remarked, highlighting the challenges that arise when citizens cannot discern the source and intent of the information they receive.

During the event, Constituent Assembly member and department member Deepak Prasad Kuinkel also spoke on the integration of digital media into people’s lifestyles. He underscored the necessity for vigilance in the use of digital media to prevent potential pitfalls.
