Parliamentarians Urge Government to Address Fertilizer Shortage for Farmers


Kathmandu: The House of Representatives (HoR) members have drawn attention of the government to various contemporary issues, including providing fertilizers to farmers. In the Zero Hour of the HoR meeting today, they expressed their concerns over the woes of farmers facing shortage of fertilizer at the time of paddy plantation.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Bhim Prasad Acharya raised questions about the recurring shortage of fertilizers, highlighting the struggles of farmers who have already faced drought and are now dealing with insufficient fertilizer supplies. Parliamentarians Ram Kumar Rai, Ram Shankar Yadav, and Ram Krishna Yadav also emphasized the need for a timely and adequate supply of fertilizers to support the agricultural sector.



Ramhari Khatiwada brought attention to the issue of cattle dying from lumpy skin disease across the country, urging the government to take necessary actions to prevent the spread of this infection. Bhanubhakta Joshi highlighted the poor condition of roads with the onset of the monsoon and demanded their upgradation, especially in rural areas.



Mahesh Kumar Bartaula noted the Nepali women’s football team’s recent success in climbing 13 places to reach 87th in FIFA’s latest ranking, stressing the potential contributions of sportspersons if supported by the government. Mahesh Basnet pointed out the damage caused by floods and landslides during the monsoon, suggesting the construction of bailey bridges to quickly restore transportation and the need to train engineers for this purpose.



Finally, Madhav Sapkota pressed for the immediate operation of Tatopani and Kerung checkpoints to avoid potential price hikes during the upcoming festivals.
