Godawari: The second Statute Congress of the CPN (UML) concluded on Sunday after a three-day session at the Sunrise Conference Centre in Godawari, Lalitpur. The congress finalized and passed several significant documents, including the political report, a proposal for statute amendment, an organizational report, and four additional reports from its central bodies.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the congress saw the unanimous passage of the political proposal presented by party chairman KP Sharma Oli, the statute amendment proposal by vice-chairman Bishnu Prasad Paudel, and the organizational proposal by general secretary Shankar Pokhrel. These critical proposals were supported by the party’s publicity and publication department chief, Rajendra Gautam.
Furthermore, reports from the Central Advisory Council, Central Disciplinary Commission, Central Audit Commission, and Central Election Commission were also passed. These reports were presented by respective chairmen Amrit Kumar Bohora, Keshav Badal, Dr. Pushpa Kandel, and Dr. Bijay Subba.
To facilitate detailed discussions, ten groups were formed to evaluate three documents and seven reports, allowing for the presentation of suggestions during the congress. Gautam noted that discussions focused primarily on the political report, statute amendment, and organizational report, with team leaders from each group presenting their proposals and insights.
Chairman Oli addressed the queries raised during the group presentations, emphasizing the role of people’s multiparty democracy as a guiding principle for the country’s development. He reiterated that this principle is foundational for building socialism and advancing the party’s objectives.
