CZOP Urges to Maintain Children and Schools as Safe Zones

Kathmandu: Activists advocating for children and educational rights have urged not to use children in agitations and to maintain children and schools as safe zones. The Children as Zone of Peace National Campaign (CZOP) has issued a statement today, drawing attention of the concerned towards the mobilization of children in the ‘Gen-Z’ protests in Kathmandu and various parts of the country.

According to National News Agency Nepal, CZOP’s President Tilottam Poudel has urged the government, Nepal Police, and relevant bodies to establish children’s areas and schools as peace zones. “Hundreds of children in school uniforms participated in the rally that started from Maitighar Mandal,” the statement said, “Using children in the movement is against children’s rights, so CZOP calls everyone’s attention not to involve children in such activities.”

CZOP has requested to create a safe environment for children in schools to return home safely, following the imposition of curfew orders in Kathmandu and various locations across the country.
