Kathmandu: The GenZ demonstration has led to incidents of arson and vandalism in New Baneshwor. The situation escalated when protestors clashed with police, resulting in significant damage and unrest.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Nepal Police responded by deploying tear gas and making blank firings to control the unruly crowd. Initially, the demonstration maintained a peaceful demeanor, progressing from Maitighar to Bijuli Bazaar Bridge, until it breached the restricted area in Baneshwor.
The confrontation intensified as protestors attempted to access the federal parliament building in New Baneshwor. The demonstrators vandalized the building’s wall and set fire to the nearby police post. In reaction to these actions, police forces released multiple tear gas shells and conducted blank firings to subdue the violent activities.
