Lalitpur DAO Imposes Prohibitory Order in Specific Areas


Lalitpur: The Lalitpur District Administration Office (DAO) has issued a prohibitory order to restrict mass meetings, gatherings, and protests in certain areas effective from 6:00 PM today. The order comes as a preventive measure to maintain public peace and security in response to ongoing demonstrations in the Kathmandu valley.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the DAO notice states that various groups and factions have been demonstrating with their demands, which raises concerns about the potential for violent activities and riots. As a result, the DAO has decided to restrict mass meetings, gatherings, and protests to mitigate any threats to public peace.



The prohibitory order is applicable in several key areas. These include the vicinity around the UN House in Pulchowk and the Justice Residence, with specific boundaries extending 200 meters east towards Iranmode, west towards the National Library, north towards the Internal Revenue Office, and south towards the National Human Rights Commission. Additionally, the order covers the new minister’s residence area in Bhainsepati, with boundaries set from Bhainsepati to Bungmati road to the east, CG Housing to the west, the Bhainsepati housing entrance to the north, and the slope leading to Itani to the south. Furthermore, the area surrounding the central office of the Nepali Congress party in Sanepa, from Sanepa Chowk to Indrayani Temple, is also included in the prohibitory zones.



The issued notice emphasizes that, effective from 6:00 PM today and until further notice, any gatherings, rallies, meetings, sit-ins, and similar activities are prohibited. Exceptions are made for the movement of the general public and vehicles. Violators of this order will face legal action as per existing laws.
