Kathmandu: Minister for Drinking Water, Pradeep Yadav, engaged in discussions with an expert team from the Indian government to address the drinking water crisis in the Terai-Madhes region.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson at the Ministry, Meena Shrestha, informed that the expert team from India arrived in Nepal at the special invitation of Minister Yadav. The discussions revolved around the acute drinking water crisis in Madhes Province and explored long-term solutions.
The team is scheduled to visit the affected districts in Terai-Madhes on Tuesday to engage with necessary stakeholders and develop an action plan to resolve the crisis. Minister Yadav highlighted that the crisis is particularly severe in Birgunj Metropolitan City, with Bara and other districts also experiencing significant water scarcity.
The Indian delegation includes Dehradun Regional Director Prashant Rae, Jagdamma Prasad, and Ashish Pandey, an advisor to the Lucknow Drinking Water Department and Sanitation.
