Kathmandu: Reporter with the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the National News Agency, Sushil Darnal, has won the Bhairav Risal Media Fellowship. The Environment and Public Health Organisation (ENPHO) has awarded Darnal with the media writing fellowship at an event held here today on the occasion of its 24th annual general assembly.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the chairperson of ENPHO, Dr Rajesh Joshi, and the Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Water Supply, Mina Shrestha, presented the fellowship. Darnal is active in journalism since the past 16 years. He has previously received the ‘Leadership Award-2076’ from Bangladesh and the Nepal Government’s ‘Youth Journalism Award, 2081.’
Darnal has also received the ‘Child Sensitive National Journalism Award, 2074’ jointly awarded by the Government of Nepal’s Central Child Welfare Committee and the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), the ‘The Best Youth Journalism Award, 2074’ presented by the Reporters Club Nepal, and the ‘Press Council Inclusive Journalism Award, 2073’ awarded by the Press Council Nepal.
He was honoured by the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens for his contribution to raising public awareness through journalism against human trafficking and smuggling in the year 2076. Darnal was honoured also in 2069 for contributing through journalism to the respect, promotion, and advancement of the path shown by the martyrs.
Journalist Darnal, who writes about issues of marginalised communities, has authored the books ‘Dalit Representation and Content in RSS’ and ‘Maya Pani Bitulo (Even Love is Untouchable)’ in the years 2020 and 2024.
