Youths Are Pillars of Prosperous Nation: President Paudel


Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized that the responsibility of building a prosperous nation rests on the shoulders of the youth. Speaking at an event held at the National City Hall to mark ‘International Youth Day-2025’, the President expressed confidence in the capability of young people to drive Nepal towards prosperity and a brighter future.



According to National News Agency Nepal, President Paudel reflected on the efforts of his generation in establishing a federal democratic republic system in the country, highlighting the political transformations achieved through their dedication. He recounted his personal journey from growing up in a farmer’s family in rural Tanahu district, overcoming challenges such as underdevelopment and poverty, to actively opposing tyranny. Despite these hardships, his generation remained resolute in achieving meaningful political change.



The President acknowledged the competence of Nepali youth in various fields, including innovation, sports, entertainment, the IT sector, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the importance of collaboration to harness this potential for a better future and align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The government prioritizes facilitating concessional loans, creating a youth-friendly investment environment, and expanding innovation and entrepreneurship to provide opportunities within the country. He urged the youth to leverage this support to establish productive businesses.



Furthermore, President Paudel stressed the urgency of realizing youth aspirations for development, good governance, and prosperity in a rapidly advancing world characterized by globalization and information technology. He noted that policies and programs promoting youth entrepreneurship are crucial to curbing brain drain.



The President also highlighted the significance of International Youth Day as a movement to enhance youth participation and empowerment, underscoring the importance of sustainable development, unity, and solidarity through youth engagement at local and international levels.



At the same event, Minister for Youth and Sports Teju Lal Chaudhary reiterated the government’s focus on policy and legal reforms to create a youth-friendly environment and promote innovation and entrepreneurship. He emphasized that employment creation through youth leadership and skill development is a top priority.



UN Resident Coordinator in Nepal Hanaa Singer Hamdy highlighted that International Youth Day serves as a platform for enthusiasm, collaboration, and commitment. Vice-Chairperson of the Council, Surendra Basnet, expressed that youths are partners of the present and leaders of the future. The event was organized by the National Youth Council.
