The government has deployed
a total of 457 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh
(BGB) to maintain law and order ahead of the second phase
of Upazila Parishad Elections scheduled to be held on 21
May.
The BGB will work as a mobile and striking force to maintain
peace and order in the election areas from May 19 (today) to
May 23 under the ‘In Aid to the Civil Power’ to support the
local civil administration during the elections, said a press
release.
In the first phase, the upazila parishad elections to 150
upazilas were held on 8 May.
