Kathmandu: Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has declared the necessity of a new revolution to achieve good governance and social justice in the country. During his address at the ‘Republic Soldier Honour’ programme organized by the Republic Soldier Trust, Dahal emphasized the launch of a campaign aimed at combating corruption and promoting social justice and economic prosperity.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chairperson Dahal announced that the party’s primary focus would be on advancing the agenda of a directly elected executive President. He reaffirmed the CPN (Maoist Centre)’s commitment to establishing a republic as a system by and for the people, stating that the party would pursue its agenda independently while uniting the fragmented Maoist factions for this new revolution. He pointed out that this effort had already commenced, as evidenced by their success in recent local by-elections.
Additionally, former Vice-President Nanda Baha
dur Pun highlighted the establishment of the republic as a result of extensive struggle and sacrifice, emphasizing the importance of preserving this achievement. Maoist leaders Janardan Sharma and Chakrapani Khanal also underscored the need for the next phase of struggle to focus on good governance and the fight against corruption, advocating for the reconstitution of the party.
During the event, the Trust recognized and honored several leaders, including Chair Dahal, for their pivotal roles in establishing the republic. Chair Dahal also conferred the ‘Republic Soldier Honour’ on various individuals such as Gopal Pandey, Surendra Bhujel, Bhakta Bahadur Thapa, and others for their contributions to the cause.
