Nepal-China Relations Strengthened: PM Oli.


KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that Nepal-China relations have been further strengthened following his recent visit to China. Speaking at a news conference held at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from the four-day official visit, PM Oli emphasized the enhanced bilateral ties and the benefits they hold for Nepal.

According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli highlighted various agreements made under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during his visit, asserting that these agreements will bring significant advantages to Nepal. He mentioned that separate discussions and agreements would be pursued for each project involved. A key highlight of the visit was the signing of the agreement on the BRI cooperation framework in Beijing, with Secretary at the Foreign Ministry, Amrit Bahadur Rai, representing Nepal, and Vice Chair of the National Development and Reform Commission, Liu Sushe, representing China.

Qiang, also included an agreement on mutual assistance. Specific projects covered in the agreements include the construction of the Tokha-Chhahare Tunnel Way, promotion of trade between Nepal and China, export of thermally processed buffalo meat from Nepal to China, and the exchange of certificates for the completion of the 9-story Durbar Square building by China. Furthermore, the agreements encompass development projects, and provision of economic and technological aid.

The discussions extended to topics such as connectivity expansion, development of industrial infrastructures, agriculture, trade, tourism, investment, science and technology, sports, natural disaster management, and enhancing people-to-people relations and poverty alleviation efforts between the two nations.
